Mediagene Inc., a group company of TNL Mediagene (NASDAQ: TNMG), has announced that it has signed a licensing agreement with PICTOLINE (hereinafter referred to as "Pictoline"), an innovative Mexican media brand, to launch "PICTOLINE JAPAN" (hereinafter referred to as "Pictoline Japan") in early 2026.
Pictline is a Mexican media brand owned by Capital Digital, Mexico's most innovative digital media group. The brand creates unique and engaging visual content, including illustrations, infographics, animated graphics, comics, and games, explaining news, data, and other information in a concise, entertaining format that's easy to share on social media and other digital platforms. Using visual design as its primary communication tool, Pictline aims to make complex information more understandable and connect with a wide audience. Pictline has pioneered unique visual storytelling and is credited with revolutionizing information design by transforming complex information into clear, engaging content. These efforts have led to notable achievements, including an Emmy Award-winning Mexican-made animated series, co-developed with HBO Max. Pictline's greatest strength lies in its ability to create content that instantly evokes empathy and emotion, which has made it a major player with significant influence in Latin America.
As a result, they boast market-leading engagement metrics in Latin America, with 132 million monthly content views and 9.5 million followers/subscribers, according to Pictline's own data and estimates, making them one of the most engaged content platforms in Latin America. Pictline is a division of Capital Digital, a media company headquartered in Mexico.
The launch of Pictline Japan comes in response to the recent rise in popularity of platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, which has led to a major shift in user behavior, particularly among younger generations, from text-based to visual-based communication, and the fact that problem-solving search behavior is gradually being replaced by dialogue with AI. We predict that highly immersive visual content like Pictline will become a mainstream media format in the future. We entered into a licensing agreement with Pictline, confident in its potential for expansion in Asia, where Generation Z is expected to account for a quarter of the population by 2025, and in Japan.
Pictline's co-founder, Eduardo Salles, has served as creative director for brands such as Nike and Google, and has won numerous awards, including Mexico's first Cannes Lions Titanium & Integrated Award. He was also named one of the "30 Most Creative Mexicans Working Internationally" by Forbes magazine. Eduardo is currently planning to move to Japan to be actively involved in the launch and operation of Pictline Japan.
